Getting started with TimeNova.
1. Create your account
Go to app.timenova.ai and sign up with your work email. You will get a 6-digit code by email to confirm the address, once, at signup. You are never asked for a code at login again. You can start tracking your own time immediately; the code only gates inviting teammates.
Your 14-day trial starts now, with every feature on and no credit card.
2. Set up your company
The Get Started page walks you through it and checks itself off as you go: name your company, create your first project (every account starts with one called General), and set your working hours if you want attendance. Each step shows as done only when it really is.
3. Add your team, two ways
In Settings, open Add people. There are exactly two ways in, and they suit different teams:
- They use the app. Invite by email, one address or a whole pasted list. Each person gets a link, sets a password, downloads the desktop app, and presses start when they work. They always see their own data, and stopping is their right. Best when you want tracking to be visibly consensual.
- You install it for them. Download the installer carrying your company key and run it on each machine, by hand or through MDM. It runs on its own, no start button. Best for fleets where the company owns the machines. Telling the team is your job, and we recommend doing it before install day; the rollout guide covers how.
On first run, macOS asks for two permissions: Accessibility (to read window titles) and Screen Recording. Those are the only two TimeNova ever requests.
4. Choose capture settings
In Settings, each person has one capture mode: off, screenshots (every 3, 6, 15, or 30 minutes), or screen recording. Blur is available on both and, when set company-wide, cannot be undone per person. Capture pauses automatically when someone goes idle past their timeout. Start light; you can always tighten with a conversation later.
5. Read your first day
By the next morning, the Overview page shows the team's hours, activity, and top apps; Today shows the live timeline; each person's captures sit under Screencasts. If a number surprises you, click the person: the panel opens with plain hours, when they started and finished, before any percentages.
If something does not look right
- No data from someone? Check they appear in Settings > People, and that their app is signed in or the agent machine is on. Data arrives within minutes of tracking starting.
- Screenshots where you expected recording? Check the person's capture mode in Settings; the server enforces whichever mode is set.
- Still stuck? Contact support. A human answers within one business day.
